Trans Fat; Bad News for Fertility

London, Jan. 20 (ANI):

Researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston have found that fats hidden in thousands of foods can reduce women's chances of conceiving.

They say that hidden fats can increase the risk of fertility problems by 70% or more, and that eating as little as one doughnut or a portion of chips a day can have a damaging effect.

Women who want to conceive, advise doctors and scientists, better avoid the fats called trans fats, which have no nutritional value...

Let Go of What is Negatively Impacting Your Fertility

In a previous tip, I talked about the importance of remembering the possibilities i.e. the possibility that women may actually regenerate their eggs and not only have a limited supply (Harvard Study March 2004).

When you are experiencing difficulty with fertility your life becomes filled with apparent limitations.  We discussed the whole running out of egg theory, or maybe you are dealing with a low sperm count, recurrent miscarriages, unexplained infertility, secondary...

Guys, Do You Feel Like All You Are is a Sperm Donor?

Fertility issues are often thought of as women’s business. How the male is effected is often not discussed and even if there is an issue with the semen or sperm there are far less investigations done into why there is an issue with the male compared to the female. Literally this week I received 82 pages of test reports from a couple who have been dealing with fertility issues for the past 6 years. 4 pages of the 82 were tests done on the male, even though he had a significant issue with...

One of the Most Important Things to Consider Regarding you Fertility

Placebo effect and Nocebo effect: how could this impact your fertility? Can what you believe about your treatment have an effect on its outcome?

Sounds strange but more and more studies are showing this could be true. Your expectations may actually influence the result of your treatment. You may have heard of the placebo response, where a person believes that something is good for them and it actually makes a difference physiologically in the body. For example someone is given a sugar pill...

Infertility Dangers in Your Personal Care Products

Phthalates (pronounced thowl-ates) have been shown in several studies to affect the reproductive system and other organ systems in the body. These substances have been getting a lot of attention in both the media and the scientific community.

Not only could they be impacting the fertility of men and women now and future generations, but several hundred animal studies have linked phthalates to prostate and breast cancers, abnormal genitals, early puberty onset and obesity,"("What's Toxic in...

Having Difficulty Communicating to Your Partner?

This week's tip is related to communication, specifically with your partner.

This is such an important topic.  And it so often the source of hard feelings, feeling isolated, feeling disempowered, and feeling frustrated among many other things.  This applies to both the male and female as both can be experiencing great anguish with this situation or one partner may be having a hard time understanding the emotions of the other partner and this can be a source of hard feelings,...

Soy and Fertility; Yes or No?

Several patients have emailed me about my opinion of a new study that has come out about soy. I have never been a big proponent of soy as a healthy alternative and especially now after this study I am even more convinced that soy is not the perfect health food and definitely not the right choice when you are trying to improve fertility.

Women who are trying to conceive may want to heed the following: Avoid eating too much soy. According to a study involving humans, a compound found in soy...

What to Know When Searching Online for Information

Over the past week I have been getting a lot of information sent to me showing me articles by professionals stating that herbs can't help assist you with your fertility, and don't let anyone tell you any different. I know that type of information is out there and I also know that we have helped nearly 4,000 couples become pregnant over the years with the help of the herbals. So, I thought it was time to dispel some of the myths that there are surrounding the use of herbs for fertility.

Focus on What You Have, Not What You Lack

In the US, Thanksgiving was just celebrated.  This is a time when people eat a lot of turkey but hopefully take some time to reflect on what they are thankful for in their lives.  It parallels what I talk about in the tips about looking at your life right now and being grateful for what you have instead of just focusing on what you lack.  Focusing on what you lack can create anxiety, a feeling of separateness, depression, feeling out of control and in some cases feeling less...
